Newcomer Aubrie Sellers is living the dream getting to tour with one of her heroes and friends, Miranda Lambert. Aubrie's stepfather, Frank Liddell, is Miranda's producer, so she and the headliner have gotten to know each other over the years. The Highway Vagabond tour kicked off over the weekend with special guest Old Dominion, and as Aubrie tells us, landing this coveted opening slot was an unexpected surprise. ["I do know Miranda. Obviously, Frank (Liddell) has produced all her records and so I do know her, and I was not expecting this at all. I saw her when I was playing Austin City Limits and she was just there and hanging out and she was like, 'Hey, come and hang out,' and then it was only a few days later — she didn't even mention it — and a few days later I got the call for the tour and I was like, 'Holy crap!' I just did not expect it at all. I knew that my manager had submitted me for it but I think that our music is gonna go really well together on tour so I think it's gonna be really great and I'm really, really excited (laughs)."] SOUNDCUE (:34 OC: . . . really, really excited (laughs).)
The Highway Vagabond tour heads to Providence, RI on Thursday (February 2nd).
Next month, Aubrie opens a string of shows for The Cadillac Three on their Black Roses tour.
