Brett Young’s latest single addresses that moment when someone breaks up with you, but then offers, “We can still be friends.” While Brett has been on the receiving end of that line, he’s never delivered it, and he tells us he never will. “I’ve never said that because I had it said to me very early on and I remember how it made me feel. Being on the receiving end of that, it feels very insulting even if it’s not meant to be. I mean I think it’s 50/50 the person saying it actually means it, but the person hearing is never ready to hear it.”

“Like I Loved You” has certainly struck a chord with radio listeners as it hovers just outside the Top 10 on the country charts.

In other Brett news, he has released a cover of “Aint Too Proud To Beg” by The Temptations to Spotify's Echoes Of Vietnam playlist. Inspired by The Vietnam War, a documentary which recently aired on PBS, the playlist features iconic songs from the Vietnam War era. Brett joins Jon Batiste, Leon Bridges, Gary Clark Jr., Joseph, John Legend, The Lumineers and more as the only Country music artist included on the playlist.

Brett said, “I'm very honored to be included on this playlist with so many other amazing artists and representing such an iconic song. I'm such a huge fan of The Temptations, so when they asked me to select a song from that era, I knew pretty quickly which one I wanted to do.”
