Dolly Parton has a duet with pop star Kesha on her brand-new album Rainbow, which was released earlier this month. As Dolly tells us, Kesha's duet request took the legendary singer by surprise. “Her mother wrote a song years and years ago that I recorded as a duet with my brother Randy, it's a song called “Old Flames Can't Hold A Candle To You” and it was one of my favorite songs that I ever did, So when Kesha? Kesha became famous she called up and said, 'Would you come sing on 'Old Flames Can't Hold A Candle To You?' and I said, 'Well, I guess', I said, 'Why did you decide to do that song?' I said, 'That's an unusual choice for you' she said, 'Well, because my mother wrote it.' So her mother wrote “Old Flames' and I said, 'Of course, we have to do it.”
Kesha’s mother, Rosemary Patricia “Pebe” Sebert, co-wrote the song with Hugh Moffatt, and Kesha recorded an acoustic version of it previously for her 2013 EP, Deconstructed.
Dolly will release a new children's album called I Believe In You that will be available digitally on September 29th and in stores worldwide on October 13th.
