Luke Combs has the Number One song in country music this week, and he has the paperwork to prove it! Actually, to give himself an interesting perspective on the journey “Hurricane” took to the top of the charts, Luke printed out the very first song chart that “Hurricane” appeared on back in October, and compared it to Monday’s (May 15th) chart.
Luke tells us: [“Yesterday I got the print out of the first Mediabase and Billboard chart I was on, and then the one that was number-one. So, it was cool to kind of look at what songs were on there when it started, and what songs weren’t . . . I don’t know, I’m big into that. I think it was really cool. It’s just a surreal thing, you can’t put it into words.”] SOUNDCUE (:19 OC: . . . it into words.)
Tuesday (May 16th), Luke rode his "Hurricane" success all the way to the Weather Channel where he joined his fellow storm-chasing friend Jim Cantore on AMHQ to announce that he will play three back-to-back album preview shows for fans in advance of his debut album, This One’s For You, releasing on June 2nd. Returning to three landmark cities and venues where Luke’s music first got its start, he will celebrate his album release with fans at Joe’s On Weed in Chicago, IL on May 30th, The Basement East in Nashville, TN on May 31st and cap off with a hometown performance at The Grey Eagle in Asheville, NC on June 1st.
Luke has teamed up with Jim Cantore and The Weather Channel for the whirlwind week of shows. “Tracking Luke Combs” will be an interactive experience that will allow fans to follow Luke’s tour, offer exclusive behind-the-scenes looks at life on the road and opportunities to get an inside view of each show.
