Sam Hunt’s hit “Body Like A Back Road” just won't stop. The song, released to country radio back on February 1st, raced to the top of the charts in only 12 weeks where it remained for three weeks. It is still in the Top Five titles for country radio airplay and is currently climbing pop radio’s Top 15. “Body Like A Back Road” is also on a 20-week streak at Number One on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, the longest command for a song by a solo male ever on the nearly 59-year-old chart. And now, “Body Like A Back Road” is RIAA-certified double platinum in record time.
Co-written by Sam, “Body Like A Back Road” is the Number One most-downloaded country song of 2017 so far and is the Number Three most-downloaded song across all genres year-to-date. Additionally, Sam’s 2014 debut album, Montevallo, is now RIAA-certified triple platinum for sales of more than three million copies.
The singer tells us that he gives the fans who loved Montevallo credit for making "Body Like A Back Road" such a huge success, which, in turn, earned him a slew of new fans. ["Yeah, I have been amazed. I think that I've been impressed with the fans of Montevallo, the loyalty they've shown cause a lot of the momentum early on came from the anticipation that the fans from the first record had. I wanted to get more music out and I didn't have a record finished but I had that song that I was working on and I had a tour coming up, and I was kind of hearing from the fans that they wanted to hear new music and I was ready to play new music so the excitement that they had for new music, I think, was the catalyst for that song taking off and reaching more ears than just the fans of Montevallo. Fortunately, we've been able to make new fans from that song and people who are just finding the first record now because of that song so it's really done a lot more for the whole deal than I could have anticipated."] SOUNDCUE (:51 OC: . . . could have anticipated.)
