Toby Keith is set to perform during the opening night of Naperville, Illinois' annual Ribfest event, which takes place in June. His appearance there has become controversial because, according to The Chicago Tribune, a segment of the population doesn't want him there because he performed during Donald Trump's inauguration festivities. Residents recently protested Toby's appearance calling him “polarizing” and “too political.”

Despite the backlash, Toby will perform as scheduled according to The Exchange Club of Naperville, which confirmed the information on their Facebook page earlier this week. A post read, in part, "Ribfest talent is negotiated and selected months in advance of the event. At no time does the Exchange Club of Naperville make any political statement or endorsement. At no time are artists booked based on their political beliefs or actions."
