Jim Gregory
"KIX WAKE UP CREW" 5-9A
Delta
Radio legend Jim Gregory was born in a cotton field on the
outskirts of Drew, Mississippi. Immediately his parents
noticed there was something different about him and expected
great things from him, because he was actually born with a
transistor radio attached to his head. Of course, it was
never pointed out that he was different from all the other
children. It wasn’t until much later that he discovered the
problem and realized that partially explained the voices in
his head.
Jim’s first experience in radio ended tragically when he
froze in front of the microphone at WDRU in Drew and had to
be hosed down and dragged from the control room in a
semi-conscious state. To his credit, he returned later that
day and became hooked on broadcasting immediately after
receiving his first phone call from a woman listener who
said, “Gee, you sound sooooooo hot.” From that day forward,
Jim would forego his dream of being a nuclear physicist and
concentrate solely on radio.
Jim later worked at WCLD as well as several stations in the
Jackson market, where he quickly became a favorite of the
patients at Whitfield. In 1992, Jim returned to the Delta to
help establish 92.9 WDTL. When dark forces overtook WDTL in
2003, Jim spent several years wandering in an empty void
before joining KIX-92.1 to host the morning show.
Jim has two daughters, Jamie and Lauren, plus a menagerie of
dogs and cats. Email Jim
Kara Davis
"KIX WAKE UP
CREW" 5-9A
Kara
moved to Cleveland one year ago and has since fallen in love
with the Delta. A self-professed computer geek, when she’s
not on-air you’ll find her glued to her laptop managing this
very website and being an all around office goddess. Kara
also builds websites for local business and is a
professional photographer. Kara's hobbies include karaoke,
restoring old vacuum cleaners, and collecting photographs of
Herbert Hoover.
Kara is proud that she passed Jim Gregory’s rigorous and
thorough co-host evaluation, exactly what that entails
remains top secret. Spending four hours alone in a studio
with a creepy old man is better than waking up to take her
dog Lou out to pee.

Jeff Larsen
AFTERNOONS 3-7P
Jeff
Larsen is a 23-year veteran of radio, spending most of his
career in Omaha, Nebraska. His greatest passions, aside
from Country music, are hunting and fishing. He and his wife
Kathy are raising two boys that Jeff is bound and determined
to turn into outdoorsmen. He even named them Hunter and
Dakota after his favorite hunting grounds. (He wanted
"Hunter" and "Fisher," but he and Kathy couldn't agree on that
one!) Jeff also spends a lot of time training his pointing
dogs (Vizslas). When he's not in a boat or in the fields,
Jeff plays your E-quests and gets you through your day with
his own twisted sense of humor. You can say Hi or send
E-quests to Jeff by

Liz Adams
EVENINGS 7P-MIDNIGHT
Liz
Adams has been a radio broadcaster for twenty years. She's a
UCLA grad and grew up near San Francisco. Liz's husband
Frank Adkisson was a longtime Omaha sports broadcaster, and
did baseball and hockey play-by-play for the Omaha Royals
and Omaha Lancers. Their two kids (age 12 and 15) weren't
all that impressed with "what mommy does for a living" till
they found out she met R.E.M. backstage a few years ago.
They also learned at an early age how to tell whether Paul
John or George is singing lead on any given Beatles song.
Liz's first concert was Chicago and they remain her favorite
pop-rock band. Her favorite country artist is Kenny Chesney.
