School District Medical Equipment Update

With several county school districts’ defibrillator pads needing replacement, Supervisor Richard Coleman asked for an update from EMA Director Bill Quinton on this issue.

Quinton also said that the schools will be responsible for the cost of the training, due to when the defibrillators were purchased in 2007; a grant funded the costs for the units, replacement batteries, pads and training.
This grant from the department of health is no longer available.

Quinton added that due to liability, a minimum of four individuals received AED operator’s training per school.
