State Tax Holiday
07/28/2010
Being Mississippi's second year to participate in a sales tax holiday, Delta citizens are looking forward to enjoy no sales for certain items this weekend..
Apparently, sales tax will not be collected on clothing items or footwear as long as the sales price does not exceed $100.
Mississippi has several other special conditions to follow, such as layaways are not tax exempt, only store coupons and discounts can be used to lower the price below the dollar limit, manufacturer's coupons can't be used to bring the price below the threshold and rain check purchases are only exempt if the item is bought during the sales tax holiday.
According to the Mississippi Department of Revenue, the sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m., Friday, and ends at midnight on Saturday.
