Granger Smith's new album, When The Good Guys Win, arrives at retail today (Friday, October 27th). The album includes his current hit single, "Happens Like That," which continues to climb the charts.
Granger co-wrote nine of the 14 songs on When The Good Guys Win, which is different for the singer because in the past he made a point to have a hand in writing practically every song he recorded. This time around, Granger tells us he had a change of heart. [“I took on a new responsibility that I’ve never looked at before as any kind of responsibility that these guys are writing really good songs with messages that I really wanted to say, and I took it as my responsibility to be the guy that puts a voice to their baby, and they’re saying, ‘Thank you so much for giving our song life,’ and I’m saying, ‘Thank you so much for allowing me and not Tim McGraw to be the one that carries the torch,’ and it’s a mutual feeling, and it’s been something new for me that I’ve loved putting together on this album.”] SOUNDCUE (:39 OC: . . . on this album.)
When The Good Guys Win is also different for Granger in the sense that he feels a lot more relaxed and comfortable on this release day. [“I don’t know why, but since the beginning of making this album I felt this peace about it and the peace coming from way less pressure. There was a lot of pressure on the last album, and it was my first national debut. I felt like I really needed to make a lot of people happy and I needed to not piss anybody off and I needed to not turn anybody’s ear too wildly, and then this album from the very beginning it felt a lot more like the previous seven where it was like, ‘you know what? I’m gonna just make this thing. I’m gonna produce this thing and edit it on my own again and sing everything at home like I used to do.’ I didn’t do it on the last album. I’m not stressed about it. I’m not worried about it. I’m just excited and comforted about the fact that we get to play a lot of new songs in our live show that I’m really excited about.”] SOUNDCUE (:54 OC: . . . really excited about.)
Granger celebrates album release day with a concert tonight in San Bernardino, CA with headliner Luke Bryan.
