Southern rock legend Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band died on Saturday (May 27) and fans and country artists took to social media to mourn. Keith Urban wrote: “My heart breaks today at the passing of soul brutha Gregg Allman. Blessings and peace to all the Allman family. Wynonna tweeted: “I recently spent time with this beautiful spirit and sang every word at the concert. I sit here stunned that we have lost another legend.” And among many other comments, Chris Stapleton posted: “I’ll always be grateful for that moment and the wealth of musical influence. RIP Gregg Allman.”

The statement on Gregg Allman’s website reads: “Gregg struggled with many health issues over the past several years. During that time, Gregg considered being on the road playing music with his brothers and solo band for his beloved fans, essential medicine for his soul. Playing music lifted him up and kept him going during the toughest of times.” Gregg Allman was 69.
