Kelsea Ballerini celebrates her fourth Number One single at Country radio as “Legends” claims the top spot on both the Mediabase Country and Billboard Country Airplay charts this week. That's the good news. The bad news is Kelsea is battling the flu. She posted a picture of herself sitting in her bathroom yesterday (Tuesday, February 20th) on Instagram writing, "'Legends' may be the number one song in country music this week, but I am covered in sweat on the bathroom floor getting cozy with the commode in yesterday’s clothes with my mom coming over so I can lay in her lap until this flu runs its course. // It looks like a cancelled writing session, opry performance, and team celebration. It also looks like life reminding me that I’m not invincible, that even during a mountaintop week it will make me sit down and be humble, and that mommas don’t care if you are on the top of the chart or at the bottom of your bank account . . . they still make you soup and rub your back and Lysol the bejeesus out of everything the same."
Kelsea is schedule to return to her headlining Unapologetically tour tomorrow night (Thursday, February 22nd) in Columbus, OH.
It’s been 11 years since a female Country artist’s debut singles from both of her first and second albums have reached Number One on Billlboard’s Country Airplay chart; Carrie Underwood achieved this feat in 2007.
Kelsea said, “I can’t believe ‘Legends’ is my fourth #1! Country radio. Fans. Co-Writers. Band. Crew. Team. All I can say is THANK YOU. As one of the first songs I wrote for Unapologetically, the song really captures my journey of loss, life, love, and truly is the heartbeat of this record. Seeing radio embrace this story has meant the world to me.”
"Legends" was co-written by Kelsea and is the debut single from her sophomore album, Unapologetically, which was released in November.
