Lauren Alaina will head into 2017 with a new album. Her sophomore project, Road Less Traveled, will be released on January 27th. Lauren co-wrote all 12 songs on the new album including her current Top 20 single and title track, “Road Less Traveled.”
The song speaks to her years-long struggle with an eating disorder. With that successfully beind her, Lauren tells us she is proud to come out on the other side a stronger person using her story to help others. “It was rough but I'm really thankful for it now because I have people come up to me and say that me speaking out about my eating disorder has really inspired them to want to get better and whatever their flaw is. It doesn't have to be weight. That just is my specific thing, but we all have those things that make us feel like we're not good enough and we wish we could be more like this girl or that guy and be more like this or prettier or taller or whatever it is and I just want people to embrace who they are because I spent four years trying to be something I'm not, and let me tell you, it didn't work (laughs), so I don't want people to go through that, and I know that there are people right now going through it and if they hear this song hopefully they can say, 'Gosh, Lauren! Lauren went through that? I need to get better!' You know, it's so much better to be better (laughs).”
Lauren co-wrote “Road Less Traveled” with Meghan Trainor and Jesse Frasure.
It has been six years since the release of Lauren's debut album, Wildflower, and she has been working on Road Less Traveled for the past few years. She said, “I am so excited to get this album out. I wrote for it for three and a half years. I’ve grown so much as a person, a songwriter and an artist in that time. These songs are a true representation of who I am, where I’ve been and where I’m going. This album has pushed me to accept who I am and be 100% honest about it. Road Less Traveled is truly ME. I can’t wait to share my stories, my music and myself with the world.”
Lauren joins Martina McBride for the CMT Next Women of Country Love Unleashed Tour 2017 which kicks off in February.
