Lindsay Ell spent extensive time with Sugarland member Kristian Bush as he produced her latest album, The Project, but despite their close professional relationship and friendship over the past few years, Lindsay tells us she was kept in the dark about his reunion late last year with Jennifer Nettles. Lindsay tells us exclusively that she was hoping for a Sugarland reboot and was as thrilled as anyone to unexpectedly discover it was happening. “I had no idea. I had no idea. I had been talking to Kristian and actually even Jennifer, cause I toured with Jennifer two years ago, and then have been working with Kristian over the past year and a half. I have told both of them, I'm like, 'When is Sugarland getting back together? This needs to happen,' and both of them were just like, 'Oh, you know, maybe one day . . . ' But they kept it a complete secret. They did not say a word to me about it until I see him up there presenting an award with Jennifer (on the CMA Awards) and I'm like, 'Wait a minute, how did I not know this was happening,' so I was the last one to find out really, but I'm so excited for them. I just think it's gonna be such a great year. I'm excited to hear more of their amazing music, and the fact that I get to go out and see the show every night, let alone share the stage . . . it's amazing!”
Lindsay was tapped to open for Sugarland on their Still The Same tour beginning in mid-July. The tour officially gets underway on May 25th in Augusta, GA with Brandy Clark and Clare Bowen.
