Thomas Rhett is a dad for the second time! The singer and his wife, Lauren, welcomed daughter Ada James Akins at a Nashville hospital on Saturday (August 12th) at 10:28 p.m. Both Thomas and Lauren shared the news on Instagram yesterday (Sunday, August 13th), complete with photos of the new addition and a few details. Little Miss Ada arrived after nearly 36 hours of labor weighing seven pounds, three ounces.
Thomas wrote, in part, "We are so excited that Willa Gray has a baby sister! Thank you Lord and everyone for the prayers #outnumbered." Thomas and Lauren adopted toddler Willa Gray from Uganda this spring.
Thomas recently told us that he and Lauren were admittedly nervous about parenting a newborn. ["I'd be lying if I said we were super confident. We are terrified and we're nervous because we really got thrown in to the parenthood thing with a girl that could sort of talk and sort of walk and already sort of had somewhat of an attitude and was a little bit sassy, and so our first bit of parenting was learning how to raise a 16-month-old, and so we skipped the infant phase where you get up every two hours and you don't sleep, so we are excited and terrified to start learning how to do that while still raising a 20-month-old little girl, so life is definitely about to get very interesting but we could not be more blessed and excited to welcome my new baby girl in the world."] SOUNDCUE (:43 OC: . . . in the world.)
Thomas returns to the road on Thursday (August 17th) in Brownsville, OR with a performance at the Willamette Country Music Festival.
