Brett Young will be one of the performers on tonight’s (Tuesday, Dec. 3rd) CMA Country Christmas special airing on ABC.  This year, he opted to do his version of late soul singer Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas." Brett tells us: [“We went around with the song choice a little bit.  Did a Christian song last year.  I grew up in church, my dad’s a pastor.  The year before, I released a Christian song, a different one, and that is my heart, but also I grew up listening to a lot of soul and R&B music, and so, as we were going back and forth, I know I’m just thought of as like, kind of the balladeer.  That is where I naturally gravitate, but I grew up on all kinds of music, and so there’s a Donny Hathaway version of ‘This Christmas’ that I’ve always been a big fan of, so I’m gonna try not to shame him tonight.”] SOUNDCUE (:27 OC: . . . shame him tonight.)

CMA Country Christmas, hosted by Trisha Yearwood, airs at 9 p.m. ET.

The show also features performances by Chris Young, Lady Antebellum, Chris Janson, Dierks Bentley, Runaway June, Tori Kelly, for King And Country and Kristin Chenoweth.
