It turns out Troy Gentry's unexpected death in a helicopter accident more than a year ago proved to be quite a gift to many others. Troy's widow, Angie Gentry, told People that she made the difficult decision to donate the singer's bone, tissue and corneas. Doctors told Angie that Troy's organs were too damaged to donate. She said that at the time while trying to wrap her mind around the news that her husband wasn't going to make it she thought, “If this is your time and God says, I’m taking you home today, but other parts of you still work perfectly well that could help somebody else, why would you not donate them? You don’t throw something away that’s perfect. It was something I felt Troy would have said: Do it.”

Angie has also carried on Troy's name and his good works with the Troy Gentry Foundation. On Wednesday (January 9th), she gathered several of Troy's friends for the C'Ya On The Flip Side concert at the Grand Ole Opry, which raised money for the Foundation. Those friends included Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Rascal Flatts, and Troy's longtime musical partner, Eddie Montgomery.
